Dr. Goh Chee Yeen, Our Featured Veterinarian

We are pleased to introduce Dr. Goh Chee Yeen as our featured veterinarian this issue. Dr. Goh is a rising leader in the veterinary field, holding a Master’s degree from University Putra Malaysia. Following a period of teaching and research in academia, Dr. Goh now manages Selayang Veterinary Clinic, a thriving practice in Malaysia.

 

Q1: How would you introduce yourself in 3 words?

I am Analytical. I am Resilient. I am Dedicated.

 

 

Q2: at what age, did you decide to become a vet?

When I was 15, my dog fell ill, and I wished I could save her. That’s when I knew I wanted to become a vet.

 

Q3: What do you like the most for being a vet?

I love being a vet because even the most routine tasks are never truly routine.

 

 

Q4: One sentence that describes your value as a vet.

I always try hard to emphasize that every pet deserves evidence-based, individualized care with continuous improvement and clear, informed communication with pet owners.

 

Q5: Can you share one memorable moment in your career as a vet?

We had a heartworm removal procedure and we removed 61 heartworms from a caval syndrome patient dog. It was a very rare case in Malaysia and we’re truly proud of it. The patient has been doing very well since then.

 

 

Q6: What is your expertise (pursuing focus)?

I am pursuing knowledge in cardiology and interventional procedures.

 

Q7: What do you like the most about CardioBird?

CardioBird is a very useful tool for basic health screening, especially for pre-surgical screening (PAC).

 

 

Q8: You must have a dream. What do you want to achieve through your profession? or as a human?

I want to strengthen my expertise in cardiology and interventional procedure. Eventually, I want to bring more advanced, minimal invasive treatments for pets for their better quality of life.

  • Prevalence of heartworm disease in pet cats and stray dogs in Klang Valley, Malaysia.
• Teaching veterinary officer in UVH, UPM 2013-2016
• Started Selayang Veterinary Clinic  2016
• Currently undertaking ESAVS Cardiology courses
• Trained to perform minimally invasive PDA repair and pulmonic stent & valvuloplasty
